This is a compilation of demos, outtakes, and even something that sounds like a remix from the kings of tortured sludge, Eyehategod. Fans of the Crowbar/Bonzilla/Iron Monkey style will find that this little album brings a hefty amount of hazy, sedated pleasure to their ears. It might not even be a bad place to start for future sludgeheads in general.
There's plenty of good stuff about this disc - each track holds its own, and SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT has an almost "greatest hits" feeling. From the Sabbathy grooving guitars, the spot-on drumwork, and of course Michael Williams' distorted heroin-laced weed sucked through a whiskey-filled bong vocals, everything is in place and sounds great.
