Biography
Wraith of the Ropes are a Horror Metal band from Hamilton, Ohio, USA. Their music is inspired by Horror film soundtracks, especially those of the 1970's and 80's. The band Goblin, John Carpenter's "Halloween" score, and countless other Horror film scores have been the band's main influences since they first formed back in 2001. This element will always be the foundation of the band.
Early in the 2000's they were also influenced by depressive Doom Metal and Dark Metal bands and chose to combine the slow, crushingly heavy dirges of Funeral Doom with the sounds of synthetic 70's Horror film music. This bizarre and original combination resulted in the creation of their first epic album (Ada), which was released in late 2005 by the Israeli label Totalrust Music. 'Ada' was a pitch-black, crawling, sprawling and monumentally depressive work... and it took it's toll on the music's creators.
The band's two core members (E.M. "Hermit" Hearst and Jack "Scarecrow" Rottinghouse) were emotionally drained and burnt-out after the 5 long years that it took to write and record 'Ada'. So, they decided to move away from the ultra-slow motion of Funeral Doom and take their second album in a much different direction...
While still maintaining the essence of their Horror Metal sound, they have infused the spirit and influence of traditional Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, old-school Death Metal, and symphonic Black Metal into their nightmarish Horror soundscapes. Basically, the band have fused the elements of every genre that they love into one unique style for their sophomore release: "Demonic Influence".
The newly invigorated Wraith of the Ropes now forge ahead with unwavering dedication to their style of "Horror Metal", and will continue to expand and evolve it's sound in the future. The band has already began writing it's third album, which will be somewhat of a mixture of the best elements of both the first and and second releases... with a few strange new twists as well.
